IELTS Sample letter 1

Task: Write a letter of condolence to your friend whose mother has died.

Dear Alice

The news of your mother’s death has come as a big shock to me. She was of a very lovable temperament and always treated me as her own daughter. I too had deep love and respect towards her. My parents were also stunned when I broke the news to them.

Please accept my heart-felt condolences and convey the same to other members of the family, especially your dad and little sister. Who knows the ways of God!

May the noble departed soul rest in peace and may the Almighty grant you and your family sufficient strength to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude.
